Jewellery Collection & Storage /// PWIP

hey lovelies,

earlier on today while I was I was organising my jewellery, I realised that it's been around a year now since I did my last jewellery collection and storage post! since then I have not only moved house (so my storage system has changed a fair bit... I prefer it!) but I have also bought a lot more jewellery. enjoy :)

so this is all on top of my little bookshelf which I love very much. the heart wire thing is from Sasse & Belle - my mum and dad got me this last year when we were redecorating my room and I absolutely love it so much! it's ideally for hanging fishhook earrings on (if it was used solely for this you could fit a lot of pairs on) but the loops which decorate the outside of the heart can be used for necklaces. I split the heart into two halves; one for earrings, one for my short necklaces. I also hooked all of my ear cuffs and hoop earrings (one pair) on the loops. I also added a bit of lace which I cut off an old top and strategically attached it to a top section, with I then put of a few of my favourite stud earrings on :)

this is the cutest thing ever! I am a huge ring fanatic. my friend Aimee got me this from france and it was either from ikea or markets... big difference I know, but it was definitely one of the two!

so this little hook decoration was also from Sasse & Belle - if you're redoing your room or just generally want to buy a few bits and bobs to make it more homely, Sasse & Belle is lovely! they have the most gorgeous shabby chic, parisian-esque things. I hang my longer pendants off here as well as a dream catcher which is pretty much ancient, and a scarf that I got from a charity shop (which I am planning on wearing as a headscarf! ooo). also, all of those black necklaces are not for me - they are being sold at a market this weekend! underneath there is my gemstone necklace which I got from my aunty and my gorgeous spike necklace which you can see in an OOTD here from efoxcity. :)

I keep all of my stretchy bracelets, wristbands and bangles distributed between my mixture of different buckets and bins which just kind of float around my room. I also keep the rest of my stud earrings in an empty jam jar - I think this is a lovely idea & if you would like to see some cute DIYs with glass jars, let me know! :)

I also keep my more special bracelets in this treasure-chest looking object which if I am right, I got as a Christmas present years ago (I don't think I am)

so this was my updated jewellery collection and storage! it was a bit brief I know... but i'd rather focus on the storagey part. thank you for reading :)

ps. I am looking for a few ladies to do guest blogs with. email me if you're interested!

✰ DIY Peppermint Facial Steam ✰

So as you may know, I've been having some problems with my skin lately (STILL I can't find out what caused it!) and throughout this ordeal of trying to clear it up again, I have managed to discover what works and what doesn't... it may be different for you however!

One of my favourite things to do is a facial steam. If you've ever been in a sauna or steam room or anything like that, you may have noticed that your skin looks lovely when you come out!! This is because...
  • The heat from the steam opens up your pores, allowing impurities to escape and absorb goodness.
  • All's steam is is water (pointing out the obvious you're welcome) so it's incredibly hydrating. And because your pores are open and fresh, it takes in so so so much more hydration.
So I decided I'd share with you how I do it, and a few things you can do to make it a little bit more exciting.

  1. Do your usual skincare routine but without moisturizing, eg. exfoliate, cleanse, tone... then that's it.
  2. Grab a pan of boiling water that you will easily be able to fit your face over, with room to spare ;) You can boil the water in the pan, but it's so much quicker in a kettle.
  3. Tie your hair back and just put your face right over the steam.
  4. Make like a tent fortress going around your head to stop the steam from escaping!! It doesn't really work at all without the towel. At this point it will feel very stuffy and almost like you can't breathe, but you get used to it after a couple of minutes.
  5. Stay in there until it begins cooling down or there's just no steam any more. I'm usually in there for about 10-15 minutes before I begin to feel like I'm suffocating/melting/just bored or it goes cold.
  6. As soon as you're done, moisturize! Dermatologists recommend to moisturize within two minutes after stepping out of the bath/shower, so apply the same rules to steaming. I also like to apply any treatment gels at this point too, while my pores are still open! (For a great, cheap acne and blemish treatment gel see here).
I like to put some music on in the background and sing along as I'm always singing... at least then I'll have an excuse.

If you like, you can add a few little things into the steam for a power boost ;) Tea bags are really simple! I wouldn't go for earle grey or English Breakfast tea... Green Tea and Peppermint Tea are wonderful! Peppermint is great for acne while Green Tea is an all rounder really. Just pop the tea bag in once the pan is full and do it like normal!

Every time I do this, somebody always notices that my skin looks nice, which is lovely!

Thanks for reading! What's your favourite skin treat? xoxo

March Wishlist

Hello!
I think that wishlists are my favourite types of posts to do because they allow me to gather my thoughts shopping-wise. There is always soo much stuff that I want, and I think this month I might have gone slightly  Topshop crazy... which can't be a bad thing!?

1. Topshop - I'm in love with this! At first I wasn't sure if I would suit this but the more I look it the more I love it.
2. Oh My Love at Topshop - This was definitely love at first sight and I've wanted it for ages! It reminds me of something that Chloe off My Mad Fat Diary would wear and I love her style ;)
3. Topshop Lipstick in Beguilded - I really like dark lipstick but I don't know if I'd be brave enough to wear a shade this dark out!
4. Topshop Nails in Moondance - I don't usually like metallic nail polishes because I think they can easily look a tad tacky but this is such a gorgeous colour.
5. Oh My Love - I'm absolutely in love with this!! I literally cannot wait to order it haha!!
6. Vans - These are literally awesome and so summery... If I do ever get these, I can see me wearing them a lot!
7. Nasty Gal - I really can't get over how cool this is, but £30 for this bag seems a little too much for me right now seeing as I want so much clothes wise...

I hope you enjoyed this post, thank you for reading! Is there anything in particular that you've got your eye on at the moment? xxxx

Recent Purchases!

This week it's my February half term. February half term is the best time for shopping EVER because you get an entire week off school, AND in some shops, the January sales are still fabulous eg. Asos! For this reason, I have been doing a bit more shopping than usual (I'm also planning on going on a little spree on Tuesday, wahoo) so I thought I'd show you some of my most recent purchases!

I have been searching for a nice Hamsa Symbol Necklace for AGES! Honestly. Who would think that I'd finally find one in Primark for £2.50!?

Again, another unexpected place that I never thought I'd fall in love with for it's jewellery range... Ebay! Seriously, there are hundreds of jewellery shops that sell some gorgeous stuff and some quite horrific stuff for dirt cheap. I got this necklace for 99P! YES! Including P&P! I also got these two rings as part of a pack of 4 (I left my two favourites at Charlotte's house...) for around £2.

One of the perks of being small is that you can buy kids clothes, and kids clothes are so much cheaper!! I got this grey marl skater skirt from Internacionale for £7.99 instead of the £12 adult's version. Yay :)

I got these leggings from the ASOS January Sale which was AMAZING by the way!! Soo much lovely stuff. They have round gold studs arranged to make crosses, but unfortunately one of the studs fell off the first time I wore them! They're also REALLY see through... I should have checked before I went shopping... It's a good job my friend Aimee let me borrow her long coat!! THANK YOU!!

This bootiful crop top is also from the ASOS Sale. I got this for £7.99! I've not worn it yet though because it's just that little bit too short to wear in January... I also got a basic white cropped T-Shirt but there's not really much point in photographing that one haha! By the way, the cheapest place to get those that I've seen so far is Missguided, where they're £5.99. :)

I've been looking into buying these for a really long time but just never really got round to it, which I have no excuse for seeing as they're £2.99! I was planning on getting a baby pink that I could get away with at school, but I thought this one looked lovely! On the lips, it's a very understated neon orange-coral that would look sooo hot with a tan! Bring on Summer! PLEASE! When I apply it, it goes on different to any product that I've ever applied. Like it says on the packaging, the only way I can describe it is a moisturising lip cream. It feels very creamy when it goes on, but it 'dries', and feels like a lip stain. Because of this, I apply chapstick/lip balm over the top of it rather than underneath and wait for it to dry.

(Sneaky changing room pic)

I've really liked the look of these dresses for a long time but never bought one because I just simply CANNOT imagine them suiting me at all!! I tried one on just because my friend didn't want to go into the changing rooms by herself (lol) and just picked this up not planning on liking it at all... and I did! This was only around a tenner from Internacionale!! I've been really impressed with Internacionale lately. They've got some pretty nice stuff in there!

Thanks for reading!! Have you bought anything you're absolutely in love with lately!? xxxx

Hey There Glittery Rabbit

Hey guys!

For ages, I kind of forgot about nails. For some reason I just wasn't interested in painting them any more and for the last few weeks they've been constantly chipped and frankly, very ugly. Oh well, I've had a new lease of life after I rediscovered this gorgeous nail varnish at the bottom of my collection! This is a Pixi nail polish in No.2 and it's just a really pretty glittery red.

This is the only Pixi nail polish I own and I'm pretty sure this is like the second time I've worn it, however, I've had it for just under a year and it's already super gloopy. I might try out the using nail polish remover as thinner method... not that I've ever had any luck with it... I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks for reading! xoxo

✿ Summer Dresses in October ✿

Hey!

I know that a bunch of you are probably still grieving over the loss of Summer 2012... I know I am! Still, I absolutely LOVE Winter and Autumn.

For this outfit I decided I wanted to wear something that I wouldn't usually go for, and take an outfit that I would usually wear in the Summer then tweak it to fit this season.

Sorry for the horrific quality photos... (a reason why I hate winter... every night when I get in from school it's like a race against time to try and get everything together and photograph it before it starts going dark! Yep that's me, living life in the fast lane). I'm wearing this sun dress that I got for like a fiver from Primark last  summer. When I bought it, it kind of had a double-breasted look, with two rows of gold buttons down the top bit. However, in true Primark style, the buttons looked absolutely cheap and plastic-y so I just chopped them straight off. It looks SO much better now... who would have thought that just a few buttons would make such a difference? The bag I'm wearing is also from Primark - can I just say, I am INLOVE with this bag right now, I've been wearing this pretty much everyday since I got it a few weeks ago! It was only £4 and surprisingly hasn't broken yet, and it comes in Burgundy (the one I've got), Light Brown, Dark Brown (I think), Black and Bright Green.
The pieces that really made this an autumn outfit for me was definitely the mohair knee-socks that I got from River Island and the Dark Purple cardigan that I got from Topshop. If it's particularly chilly where you are, you could put some skin tights (or layer up a few pairs as they're not as thick as black tights... I can see me doing this trick loads this winter!) under the knee socks. I also wore it with some big quilted Winter boots that I got from the dodgy markets on the -1 floor under my shopping centre for £30! I got these last year when I went there to get some thread and ribbon, and it's the first (and so far, last... it's pretty hard to find good stuff from there) piece of clothing I've ever bought from there.
